Description
This is my entry for the AidsMythBuster Contest.
There are many myths about AIDS and having grown up around a gay community due to my mother owning a hair salon, I have known several people who were living with AIDS.
I have heard so many myths and dealt with so many prejudices, I recall my father getting mad at my mother and I for being in our back yard with Harry and Larry (twin brothers, both infected) thinking we could get AIDS by a mosquito biting one of them and then one of us.
In this picture, I thought about the AIDS crisis in Africa, which is one of many reasons I am very active about situations in Africa. I also thought about how many misinformed people think that AIDS is a "black" or "African" disease. I made a pattern with international flags and filled the entire continent of Africa to represent that this is a WORLDWIDE problem.
I included a beautiful stock photo of a white woman with her child, to show that it affects not only all races, but that it is NOT a homosexual disease, either. This stock photo is from ~JensStockCollection: [link]
I also included a brush that I made of a photo of a couple exchanging a kiss, this is to show that it is NOT transmitted through "dry kissing". This stock is by ~Kaalvoet-Stock: [link]
The ribbon of course, represents AIDS Awareness and the floating glass information panel includes the statistics I located on the link provided by $Moonbeam13 announcing the contest.
I initially had included a photo which I had thought was a stock photo, but was mistaken, my apologies to ~josemanchado.
